Discussion of concepts of wave & swell generation, and the role of wind, fetch, & time in decay
“Hands On” geostrophic wind exercise and the Bowditch Wind, Wave, Period and Fetch Tables
Discussion of the NWS’s “Wind & Wave” forecast products
Homework: read “ Mariners Guide to the 500 Mb Chart”  article


BWCApicHomework review & “Hands On” reinforcement utilizing 500 Mb, surface pressure & sea state charts.
Lunch Break.
More “Hands On” Reinforcement exercises based on what has been covered from day one and day two
A live weather map discussion (focusing on upper air 500 Mb, surface pressure & sea state & wind and wave charts) in order to consolidate the learning of the past two days and to use this discussion as a road map for the attendees to follow up on the own.
“Hands On” final assessment exercise
The afternoon session will conclude with a Q & A period along with attending filling out course critiques.

The course includes handout copies of the presentations and supplemental workshop materials.
