One-Day Basic Marine Weather Course (Houston, Mar 29)

“Basic Marine Weather” is an entry-level one-day course for attendees with little or no marine weather background. The course covers an introduction to 101 weather principles, the language of weather (specifically important definitions), clouds and what they mean to a mariner, specifically the common surface weather systems and their features (e.g., lows, highs, fronts, troughs & ridges) the associated cloud. There will also be discussions and depictions of the associated symbols commonly found on surface pressure weather charts. Additional topics will cover what goes into a human intelligence originated forecast, & finally, how to document and verify all surface weather forecasts for confidence building & learning to become self-reliant in your own marine weather forecasting skills. There will also be a very brief introduction on weather communications at sea.

This special one-day boat show course costs $125.00 per person (normally $195.00 value). A copy of the presentation slides (PDF) will be included in the course costs as well. Whether coastal cruising in Galveston Bay, or offshore cruising in the Gulf of Mexico, perhaps further on into the Caribbean, the Atlantic Ocean basin (Bahamas, Bermuda or eastward to the Azores, Europe, or the Mediterranean), do not miss this opportunity to learn what it means to on the road toward self-reliance in marine weather and forecasting, with the best in the business, Lee Chesneau!
