Basic Marine Weather Course (March 8th) and Application Course (March 9th)

“Basic Marine Weather” Day 1 is an entry-level one-day course for attendees with little or no marine weather background. The course covers an introduction to 101 weather principles, the language of weather (specifically important definitions), common surface weather systems and their features (e.g., lows, highs, fronts, troughs & ridges) the symbols commonly found on surface pressure weather charts, what goes into a human intelligence originated forecast, and finally how to document and verify all surface weather forecasts for confidence building and learning to becoming self-reliant in your own marine weather forecasting skills. There will also be a very brief introduction on weather communications at sea.

Application of Weather Analyses & Forecasting Day 2 will consist of reinforcement “Hands-On” exercises based on topics from day 1. We will also discuss new topics such as local weather, wave and swell wave generation, NWS’s Wind & Wave forecast products along with “Hands-On” exercises integrating the products discussed. ASC Whether coastal cruising in the Chesapeake Bay, or offshore cruising to the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Europe, or the Mediterranean, do not miss this opportunity to learn what it means to become on the road toward self-reliance in marine weather and forecasting, with the best in the business, senior meteorologist  Lee Chesneau!   

Course time for both days run 8 to 4 with Q & A time after!

Day 1 – Saturday, March 8th Fees $125.00  per person (normally $195.00). A color interactive note taking guide will be included.

Day 2- Sunday,  March 9th Fees $125.00 per person (normally $195.00). You must take the March 8th class to be eligible for the March 9th class
